OBGYN- Why I am doing this
For some time now, I have wanted to have an outlet to talk about pregnancy and gynaecological issues in a safe and accurate environment. There is so much information out there- some of which is accurate and some of which is “way off the mark”.
There are many areas in Women’s Health that women of all ages are worried, anxious or even embarrassed about talking about. Even when they come and see me as the specialist Dr in the clinic, women- young and older- still find it difficult to open up and ask questions.
That is my aim here- to touch on a different area of women’s health every week with medical information and accuracy.
So let me tell you a little bit about myself; I am a Doctor that is 3 months away from being a qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. That means I have done internship, residency, two senior residency years in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), four core years of O&G training and am about to complete my last two year that have been on gynaecology ultrasound and laparoscopic surgery. The department that I work in is specialised in early pregnancy, miscarriage, endometriosis and laparoscopic surgery. I am one year in to my PhD looking at the causes for miscarriage.
On a personal level, my first love was looking after pregnant women and delivering babies, but I also have a special interest in sexually transmitted infections and contraception as well as miscarriage.
I hope that over the course of this blog I will be able to give all women accurate information about women’s health.
Please let me know if there is any topic you would like me to discuss. I’ll be more that happy to do so!
